Preparations underway for upcoming Grandma’s Attic Sale at fairgrounds
It's less than two weeks until the annual Grandma's Attic Sale, benefitting the Livingston Centre Historical Village. The three-day sale begins Thursday, May 15. Please consider donating your extra useful items, in good condition. This is one of two major annual fundraisers for the maintenance and improvement of the Historic Village.
Accepted are vintage/antique items, household goods, kitchen items, toys, decorations, books, clothing, smaller home improvement and hardware items, small furniture, sporting goods, art, and jewelry. We regret that we are not able to accept large/heavy or glass furniture, home gym equipment, electronics (TVs, computers and accessories), items with mold or mildew, broken items. Volunteers will be present to accept donations at the following times:
--Saturday, May 10: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
--Sunday, May 11: (Mother's Day): CLOSED
--Mon., Tues., Wed., May 12-13-14: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
For those wishing to support the work of the Historical Society, cash or checks can be brought during donation drop-off or during the sale itself. Checks must be made out to the Fowlerville Agricultural Society (for banking purposes) with a memo of Livingston Centre Historic Village.
An example of the hard work resulting from successful fundraising is taking place now: the roof is being repaired on the Kirkland House in the center of the Village. Financial support continues to be sought for the restoration of the interior to its original late-19th century condition. The house is closed to visitors while construction work continues.
Continue to follow the Fowlerville News & Views for updates on these and other activities. Watch specifically for the Fowlerville Library's schedule, where a new Livingston County outreach program is beginning. The public is invited to come to the Library on Mon., May 12 at 10:00 am for the first event. Visitors can share their own history in Livingston County. Society member Janie Willsmore will facilitate the discussion.
