Pastor Ronald C. Bessert
Pastor Ronald C. Bessert, 76, of Jim Falls, Wisconsin, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, September 11th at 11 am (ET) at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Allegan, Michigan. Pastor Douglas Reynolds of Phoenix, AZ will be officiating, and the service will be live streamed via Facebook. Visitation will be from 10 am until the time of service at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to Trinity Lutheran Seminary, 2199 East Main St., Columbus, OH 43209; place in the memo line – In Memory of Pastor Ron Bessert.
Ron was born May 4, 1945 in Howell, MI to the late Ernest and Bernice (Finlan) Bessert. He is survived by his loving wife, Alice; two daughters Kristen (Larry) Sailors, III of Comstock Park, MI and Heather Bessert of Jim Falls, WI; three grandchildren, Dennis Littlejohn Jr., Lee Sailors and Elizabeth Sailors; and two step grandchildren, Izaha Willick and Madison Willick. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, George, Max and Harold Bessert; and one sister, Margaret Risdon.
After graduating from Fowlerville High School in 1964, he went on to study English at Northern Michigan University and then earned his Master of Divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, OH in 1972. On August 19, 1967, Ron married Alice Wheeler in Marquette, Michigan.
Pastor Bessert was ordained on December 3, 1972 in Fowlerville, MI. His faithful journey began with his Internship at Zion Lutheran Church in Loudonville, OH; from there he was called to Zion Lutheran Church, Atalissa, IA; Salem Lutheran Church, Correctionville, IA; Trinity Lutheran, Waterloo, IA; St. Paul Lutheran, Alpena, MI; Christ Lutheran, Las Vegas, NV; Immanuel Lutheran, Allegan, MI; Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran, Austin, TX; St. John Lutheran, Robstown, TX; and finally St. Mark’s Lutheran, Corpus Christi, TX. Pastor Bessert had a passion for reaching those who did not know his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and touched many with his devotion to helping everyone who crossed his path.
