Gladys Lucille Sherwood

Gladys, who was most commonly known as Lucy and lovingly known as "Grammy" by her grandchildren, died peacefully in her home on October 21, 2021 at the age of 95, with family around her. A lifelong resident, she was born to Harold and Ruth Klein of Fowlerville on March 6, 1926. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 74 years of marriage, Jack Sherwood, along with her parents, stepmother Lena Rudnicki Klein, sister Waneta Dorrance and her husband Howard both of Fowlerville, brother Donald Klein of Howell and granddaughter Amanda Sherwood of Fowlerville.

Lucy graduated from Fowlerville High School in 1944. After graduation, she started working at the IGA grocery store in Fowlerville, along with helping out on the family farm. In 1945 she married the love of her life, Jack Sherwood. She was well known for baking and cooking large meals for her family, friends and hired help that worked for them throughout the years. Making sure no one walked away hungry.

Lucy was a kind and generous person. Always putting the needs of others above her own.

She is survived by her children: Jacqueline Hunt and Dana (Ellen) Sherwood both of Fowlerville. Grandchildren: Brian (Jackie) Sherwood of Caledonia, MI, Cody (Shannon) Sherwood of Saginaw, MI., Travis (Nichole) Hunt of Fowlerville, and Dylan Hunt of Fowlerville. Great grandchildren: Ayden, Aliana, Chase, Natalie and Wyatt. Sibling: Merlin Klein of Florida.

Vistitation was held on Tuesday, Oct. 26, from 5-8 p.m. at Herrmann Funeral Home of Fowlerville. The funeral took place on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021 at the funeral home, with the burial following at Benjamin Cemetery in Conway Township.

 Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Donaldson

Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Donaldson passed away on September 28, 2021 at the age of 90.

She could always be found watching the children in her family doing the activities they love and cheering on the MSU Spartans. One of her favorite places was the Fowlerville Senior Center and spending time with all of her friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Marion "Dick" Donaldson, parents Ivah Thomas and Ralph Kelley, brother Howard Kelley Sr., and cherished neices Wanda Croston and Jennifer Kelley.

Betty is survived by daughter Linda and son-in-law Chris Erwin. Granddaughters: Amanda Erwin, Krista (Kevin) Matiyow, and AJ Ramirez. Great-grandchildren: Chance, Wesley, Kalista, Kaleb, Kiara, Korbin, Nate, Cahne, Kerri, Makila, and Mila. Nieces: Paula Moran and Gloria Simms and nephews: Howard Kelley Jr. and Mike Kelly

A memorial was being held at VFW Post #6464, 215 Veterans Dr. in Fowlerville on Saturday October 30th at 2pm.  Williamston Theatre kicks off season with This Wonderful Life

Mid-Michigan’s award-winning professional theatre company, Williamston Theatre, located at 122 S. Putnam Street in downtown Williamston, is thrilled to kick off Season 15 with This Wonderful Life by Steve Murray. Performances for this beautiful holiday story begin Thursday, November 18 and run through Sunday, December 19. Tickets are now on sale.

John Lepard returns to the Williamston stage in his award-winning role as George Bailey, Mr. Potter, and the entire population of Bedford Falls in this theatrical re-telling of the classic holiday film.. Superbly adapted from the most irresistible and entertaining “what if” story of all time, this heart-warming tale reminds us of the power of perspective, friendship and faith. A holiday experience for the whole family.

Performances for This Wonderful Life will be staged on Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00PM, Saturdays at 3:00PM and 8:00PM and Sundays at 2:00PM. Please note there will be no performance on Thursday, November 25 and an additional performance on Friday, November 26 at 3:00PM.

There will only be one Preview performance of the play on Thursday, November 18. Audience members will have the opportunity to take part in the process of creating a show by participating in a talk-back session with the director on that date. The Official Opening Night is Friday, November 19. The Military Matinee is Saturday, November 20. Conversation Sunday is Sunday, December 12

 Murder mystery dinner-theater play being performed

A dinner-theater murder mystery is being peformed on Nov. 18-19-20 at the Kelmscott Chapel, located at 123 S. Second Street in Fowlerville. Starting time is 7 p.m. for each evening’s entertainment.

The play is entitled “Who’d Murder for Mom?” and was writted by area resident Jason Loomis. It’s being performed by a group of actors who call themselves the Village Idiots.

 Livingston Centre Historic Village committee meeting Nov. 3 at fair office

The committee for the Livingston Centre Historic Village will meet Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 7:00pm in the Fowlerville Fair Office. This will be the final meeting for 2021; monthly meetings will resume in February, 2022 (weather permitting).

The primary topic of discussion will be continuing restoration and maintenance of the historic buildings. Due to the pandemic, there are not adequate funds for work to continue throughout the winter months. Donations are still needed; now is the time to consider supporting the preservation of Livingston County's history with an end-of-year financial donation--which is tax-deductible. All interested individuals are invited to attend these open monthly meetings and learn more about efforts to preserve Livingston County's history. New ideas and fresh input regarding coming projects are always welcome.

 Fowlerville United Methodist Women serving Turkey Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 6, by ‘curbside pickup’

The Fowlerville First United Methodist Women are serving their 78th Annual Turkey Supper on Saturday, Nov. 6. As they did last year, the meal will be available for ‘curbside pickup’ from 5 to 7 p.m. or until the food is gone.

The church is located at 201 S. Second St., Fowlerville.

A freewill offering will be accepted for the meal that includes turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, a vegetable, squash, cranberry sauce, cole slaw, and a piece of pie.

Orders can be placed upon arriving at the church at the main entrance of the parking lot. All proceeds are used for area mission projects.

Calvary Church says, “Leaf It To Us!” on Saturday, Nov. 6th

We’re here to help! Calvary Church of Webberville is launching a community-wide service project on Saturday, Nov. 6th. We would like to share God’s love by helping you! All labor is free, and we will do our best to provide basic supplies free of charge.
