Dorothy Jeanette Hitchcock

     Dorothy Jeanette Hitchcock, age 79, of Webberville, Michigan passed away at home with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, August 28, 2019. Dorothy was born in Mason, Michigan on November 18, 1939. 
    Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents Clinton and Gladys (Fulton) Dunsmore, son Tyrone Hitchcock, Allen’s parents Lyman and Charlotte Hitchcock, sisters-in-law Sharon Hitchcock and Birdie Hitchcock, and brothers-in-law Scott Hitchcock and Wayne Hull. 
    Left to cherish Dorothy in memory are her loving husband of 62 years Allen Hitchcock, children Brian (Jennifer) Hitchcock, Brad (Lori) Hitchcock, adopted son Bo (Elien) Trout, grandchildren Rick (Jennifer) Hitchcock, Jordan (Amanda) Hitchcock, Ryan (Caitlin) Hitchcock, Brad Jr (Jessica) Hitchcock, Brennen Hitchcock, Lynsey Hitchcock, step-grandchildren Colton and Logan, twelve great-grandchildren, twenty-four nieces and nephews, sister Barb (Ed) Dunsmore Deforest, brothers-in-law Barry Hitchcock, Steve Hitchcock, Craig (Sharon) Hitchcock, Mark (Mary) Hitchcock, and sisters-in-laws Karen Hitchcock, Cheri Hitchcock, and Ed (Cindy Hitchcock) Dunkel.
   If you knew Dorothy you knew how much she loved her dog Muffy, and she loved to send Christmas and Birthday cards. She never missed your Birthday, and you could count on her cooking and baking your favorite cake and food for your Birthday. She was the most loving and caring person you would ever meet, and always chose to see the good in everyone. She was the matriarch of our family, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. 
     For many years Allen and Dorothy owned and operated A&D Hitchcock Trucking Company out of Webberville, Michigan. Dorothy’s sharp mind for business earned her the opportunity to help operate the business part while Allen drove the truck and ran the logistics.  
   Visitation took place on Thursday, August 29, 2from 6 to 8 PM at GorslineRunciman Funeral Homes in Williamston and on Friday, August 30, from 11 to 3 PM and from 5 to 8 PM, also at the funeral home, and one-hour prior to the service at the church. 
    The funeral service was being held this Saturday August 31, 2019 at 11 AM at Family Life Wesleyan Church, 3720 Rowley Road, Williamston. Officiating the service was Pastor Doug Bradshaw.

Kenneth Arthur U’Ren

    Kenneth Arthur U’Ren (aka Bill U’Ren), originally from Fowlerville, passed away at age 89 on Saturday, August 24 where he resided at the Willows of East Lansing. He was born on February 19, 1930 in Lansing, Michigan to Ken Sr. and Viola (Ketchum) U’Ren. Ken grew up around Holt, Michigan until his family moved to Fowlerville in the 1940s.
   Ken and Ken Sr. opened up Fowlerville Sheet Metal Shop. They fabricated metal ductwork and vents. They also serviced heating systems. The business served parts of Livingston and Ingham counties. Ken operated the business until he semi-retired in December 1992. After selling the business, Ken went to work part-time at the Fowlerville IGA. When that was sold, he went to work at VG’s in Howell. Ken worked until his health told him it was time to fully retire.
   Ken married Ruth Line on April 27, 1957 and they resided in Fowlerville. During the 1960s, Ken drove school bus for Fowlerville Public Schools part-time to supplement their income. He also served as a reserve in the National Guard for a short time. Ken was a volunteer for the Fowlerville Fire Department for many years. He helped Ken Sr. train Golden Glove boxers in Livingston County. In the later years of owning the business, Ken and Ruth ran Ken Stag in the front of the business. It was a card room where numerous people came to gather, share stories and play cards. The most popular game was pinochle.
   Ken was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruth (March 22, 2018); his parents, Ken Sr. and Viola; his sister Dora; brother Gary; and daughter Debra Kay. Ken is survived by his daughter Anna (Ron) Carter; son Brian (Mary) U’Ren; son Chuck U’Ren; grandchildren Joshua, Rachael (Dan), Jason (Brittany), Brittany (PR), Jordan (Molly), Brianna, Jacob, Matthew (Amanda), Ryan, Caitlyn (Adam); sister Sharon (Dan) Roberts; sister-in-law Marilla (Jack) Breraton; numerous great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and cousins.
   When living in Fowlerville, Ken loved helping and serving with the Fowlerville United Methodist men’s group. He also attended and helped out at the Fowlerville Senior Citizen’s Center. When Ken and Ruth moved to the Willows, they served as Welcome Ambassadors by taking packets to new residents, welcoming them and explaining the weekly events at the Willows. Ken and Ruth were both avid card players, loved bingo and being together. Ken was a practical joker and loved to tell stories as well.
   He loved to attend family events or gatherings and to fish. Ken always made sure the family had a week vacation each year at McKane Lake. Some of our best family memories and gatherings were there at the lake. Ken made sure to make it memorable.
   Ken’s greatest joys were his wife, his grown kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, as well as his Lord and Savior. He relished the times we gathered together.
   On September 13 at 12:30 there will be a Celebration of Life at the Fowlerville Senior Citizen’s Center for Ken (Bill) U’Ren. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken’s name can be made to hospice care and would be appreciated.

Robert Thomas Martin

     Robert Thomas Martin, age 72, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his wife and children on Sunday, August 25th. He was born on January 15th, 1947 in Taylor, MI.  Robert married Debbie Martin on June 16th, 1984 and the two enjoyed 35 years of marriage. Robert was a devoted father and husband and always encouraged his children and supported them through their journeys in life. His creative spirit was a constant presence throughout his life and Robert enjoyed drawing, singing, collecting coins, attending car shows, surrounding himself with the many animals he helped rescue over the years, and spending time with his family at their cottage in LeRoy, MI where they spent over 30 summers together sharing what are now cherished memories. 
    Robert is survived by his wife Debbie, his sons Lucas (Lyndsay) Martin, Jacob (Stephanie) Martin, and Cody Martin (Josh Elliott), his daughters Beth (Andy) Duncan and Cassidy Martin (Sean Mason), and his granddaughters Meghan Duncan and Madilynne Martin.

Webberville church sponsoring Family Festival next Sunday, Sept. 8
    Calvary Church of Webberville invites you to be part of the September Spectacular Family Festival on Sunday, Sept. 8. The day begins at 10:30 AM with an inspirational worship service. This will be followed at 12:00 PM with a free pig roast and picnic.  Afternoon activities will include a moonwalk, giant inflatable obstacle course, go-karts, Kids Karnival, bingo, cotton candy, ice cream and more. Everyone is invited and everything is FREE!  You can come any time between 10:30 AM and 3:00 PM and join the fun.

Williamston Eagles Club presenting  ‘DJ TRIVIA’ on Friday, Sept. 13
    Back by popular demand! Williamston Eagles Club 4091 presents 'DJ TRIVIA' on Sept 13th. Patrick Moore of 'Moore Good Times' will again be hosting this event.
