The Fowlerville District Library will be closed Saturday, September 2nd-Monday, September 4th to observe Labor Day Weekend. We will reopen Tuesday, September 5th at 9:30am. The Little Free Library is available for your reading needs during this time and any materials to be returned can be placed in the blue drop box. Have a safe holiday!

Registration begins for From A to Z with Mrs. D Wednesday, September 6th
Kids 2-4 yrs and their adult helper. From A-Z with Mrs. D is a pre-school program, each group meets once a week for the entire fall season. Groups start Tuesday, September 26th and Wednesday, September 27th at 10am and 11am. Spaces are limited and are filled on a first come, first served basis. *Register in person only.

Build a Robot Workshop - Wednesday, September 13th at 6:30-7:30pm
Kindergarten-8th grades. Come to the library for a robot exploration led by robot experts from The Mentors Robot Shop. Participate in hands on activities with a variety of robots and learn how robots are used in our everyday lives! *Participation is limited. Register in person to attend. Registration begins August 30th.

Beyond the Book: One Thousand White Women Thursday, September 14th at 7pm
Adults. Join us at the library for a book discussion. Books will be given at sign-up while supplies last. Refreshments will be served. *Register in person to attend. Registration begins August 24th. Books will be given while supplies last.

Mario Kart Tournament - Friday, September 22nd at 5-8pm *Note: original date has changed*
Teens 6th-12th grades. Come to the library to play Mario Kart on the new Nintendo Switch! You can also play Mario Kart Wii and make your own pins and perler bead crafts! Pizza and a beverage will be served. *Register in person to attend. Registration is required and includes a 2017-2018 signed Program Permission Form. Registration begins September 8th.

Richard Charles Opper

   Richard Charles Opper -- Graduate of Fowlerville High School 1967.
    Passed away after a five-month struggle with leukemia on August 2, 2017 in Orlando, FL.
     He was the son of the late Austin and Loretta (Reed) Opper. Preceded in death by brother Robert and sister Diane.
    Survived by his beloved wife of over 46 years, Terry (Brack) Opper, daughter Deana of Coldwater, MI, son Phillip and his wife Jennifer Opper of Orlando, FL., 2 sisters Sally Miller of Lansing, MI, Mary Ellen Finch of Fort Myers, FL, and one brother Jim of Williamston.
    Grandchildren Austin Opper, Leland VanWinkle, Christopher VanWinkle and Treanna Gormley. Great grandson Dominic and great granddaughter Marlee along with many nieces and nephews.
    Foster children and all the kids who always called him dad as he and his wife took in many and were foster parents in the state of Florida.
    He owned a painting business for over 30 years in Florida and loved playing Santa Claus at Christmas.
    His two great friends, Jon Miller of Fowlerville and Dick Britten of Howell, brought him joy through the years with their friendship and support which he treasured and spoke of often.
     On August 27, 2017 there will be a Celebration of Life at the Fowlerville Community Park, 425 North Grand Ave., Fowlerville, MI 48836 at 2 PM.

Laurie Ann Aldrich

Laurie Ann Aldrich, age 55 of Howell, formerly of Farmington, passed away at home Saturday, August 12, 2017. She was born August 4, 1962 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Emmerson L. and Patricia I. (Dingman) Lindenmuth, Jr. Beloved wife of Daryl E. Aldrich whom she married November 28, 1989 in Las Vegas, NV and who preceded her in death July 30, 2007. Loving mother of Ashley (Ray) Faber of Howell, Amber Aldrich of Howell and step-daughter, Jennifer Aldrich of St Clair Shores, grandmother of Raelyn Faber. Daughter of Patricia Lindenmuth of Farmington Hills, Sister of Jim (Mary) Lindenmuth of Hawaii, Jeanne (Larry) Brown of South Lyon, Gary (Jackie) Lindenmuth of Wixom, Mary Kelly of Texas, Mark (Perri) Lindenmuth of Walled Lake, Patricia (Bill) Vincent of Walled Lake, Tom (Robin) Lindenmuth of Redford, Cindy (Joe) DeWolf of Livonia and Doug Lindenmuth of Nebraska; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. with visitation Wednesday from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. at MacDonald’s Funeral Home, Howell. Community Theatre of Howell to perform show on August 26-27

Crossroads United Methodist Church holding open house party on Sept. 9
    Ride a pony, race a pedal car, chunk a punkin’ and vote for your favorite chili or homemade pie at the annual Crossroads United Methodist Church open house party Saturday, September 9.
    The party will run from 2 to 4 p.m. at the church, corner of Haslett and Zimmer roads east of Haslett and north of Williamston. All the above and more will be free for friends, family, neighbors and strangers. Also included will be hot dogs, chips and drinks for lunch; face painting for kids, and hay rides for all ages.

‘Beatles’ tribute band to perform at this Friday’s Concert at the Courthouse
    ‘Toppermost’—a Beatles tribute band—will perform at this Friday’s (August 25) Concert at the Courthouse. The show will be at 200 E. Grand River in Downtown Howell and runs from 7 to 9 p.m.
     The band is the latest in a variety of local area musicians who have taken center stage every Friday night throughout the summer on the lawn of the Historic Howell Courthouse as Concerts at the Courthouse celebrates its 19th season this summer.
    This always popular program is a free series of concerts presented by the Livingston Arts Council throughout the summer, featuring rock, folk and blues entertainment at an outdoor family (and pet)-friendly venue. Pack a blanket or chair, and bring a snack or eat at one of Howell’s many downtown restaurants before enjoying the evening’s entertainment!
   This year’s series wraps up with ‘Toppermost’, Michigan's MOST popular Beatles tribute band. They are an authentic Beatles tribute that pride themselves on recreating the energy and youthfulness of the legendary foursome. In the words of band member Tom Diab, “We don't just stand at the microphone, we dance around and joke with each other just like the lads did. Our shows are spontaneous, infectious, funny and great for all ages! We are also sincere Beatles fans and have loved the Beatles our entire lives.”
