Concert at the Courthouse to feature ‘Air Margaritaville’ on Friday, Aug. 18
‘Air Margaritaville’ will be the featured band at the Concert at the Courthouse this Friday, August 18, in Howell. The entertainment will run from 7 to 9 p.m.
This musical group will be the latest in a variety of local area musicians who have taken center stage every Friday night throughout the summer on the lawn of the Historic Howell Courthouse as Concerts at the Courthouse celebrates its 19th season this summer.
This always popular program is a free series of concerts presented by the Livingston Arts Council, featuring rock, folk and blues entertainment at an outdoor family (and pet)-friendly venue. Pack a blanket or chair, and bring a snack or eat at one of Howell’s many downtown restaurants before enjoying the evening’s entertainment!
‘Air Margaritaville’ has been entertaining fans for over 20 years with their musical tribute to legendary singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffet, and they are set to land in Howell to play all the great songs that you know by heart! Air Margaritaville is the premier Jimmy Buffet tribute band in the Midwest, and have been nominated for a Detroit Music Award for “Outstanding Tribute Band.” Put on your island attire, grab your favorite Parrot Heads, and enjoy the show!
The Concerts at the Courthouse program runs every Friday night thru August 25th. In the event of inclement weather, concerts may be cancelled – listen to WHMI 93.5 for updates. No alcoholic beverages are permitted.

Webberville United Methodist Church serving Chicken Dinner on Aug. 19
The Webberville United Methodist Church is having its monthly chicken dinner on Saturday, August 19 with oven fried chicken, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, vegetables and biscuits. The meal will include coffee, lemonade, and dessert. The dinner will be served 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $9 per adult, $4 for children 12 and under, preschoolers eat free. This is an outreach service to the community and proceeds will fund church ministries. Webberville United Methodist Church is located on the corner of Holt Road and M-52.

Michigan State Police holding ‘Stuff the Blue Goose’ event on August 11
On Friday, August 11, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Michigan State Police (MSP) will be holding a ‘Stuff the Blue Goose’ event hosted at the Target located at 8043 Challis Road, Brighton
What is ‘Stuff the Blue Goose’? First, the Blue Goose is the name of MSP patrol vehicles. Second, MSP partners with various agencies throughout the year collecting items needed for families in our communities. During this event, we are collecting backpacks and back to school supplies for Livingston Educational Service Agency (LESA). All donated items will be distributed to families in Livingston County during LESA’s annual Backpacks for Kids/Connect for Kids event which will be held later in the month. Third, the stuff portion of the event, we will have patrol vehicles along with Troopers on site available to be “stuffed” or filled with all of the provided donations.

The 9th Annual Doc May Memorial Melon Ride being held on Saturday, August 19, is a 15-mile ride through historic neighborhoods, the McPherson Park Bike Path, Crosstown Trail, Howell City Park and Lake View Cemetery. This ride has become a Howell Melon Festival Tradition and is our way of celebrating the life of Doctor Pat May. The ride ends back at the Livingston County Courthouse for the post-ride, Howell Melon and Ice Cream. All registered riders will receive a route map, a commemorative t-shirt, and bike drawing ticket. Have gently-used clothes in your closets that could use a new home? Bring them to our Clothing Swap, then take home what you and your family need! Don’t have clothes to purge but could use some gently-used items for you or your family? Come to our Clothing Swap and take what you and your family could use. Leave with a new wardrobe for you AND the family! Clothes of all sizes, jewelry, purses, shoes and other accessories are welcome!
Please arrive at 6 pm if you have clothes to share. Tables will be arranged by size and gender so you can sort your clothing accordingly. The shopping will begin at 6:30pm. Please bring your own bags or boxes to take your new-found items home.
The clothing items left over after the event will be donated to Family Impact Center and Goodwill.
