Danykah Muck is a Livingston County 4-H member and for her 10th birthday she decided to forego getting presents for herself but instead collect items for deployed veterans through Operation Gratitude. This was a hard decision to give up gifts at first but once she realized how many veterans would benefit from her donation she got very excited. After her friends were so very gracious and donated a lot of items for the cause Danykah decided to expand the project.
She wrote a letter to be placed in the county 4-H newsletter and presented at her 4-H clubs meeting to ask for donation from 4-H and to talk about the program Operation Gratitude that she was collecting for. The letter that Danykah shared with 4-H clubs is attached along with a photo of the items she collected.  In addition, there is a letter of appreciation she received from Operation Gratitude once the donation was receive also attached.
While Danykah was running this project she helped some of her fellow Girl Scout friends sell cookies even though she was not a member just to help out.  The extremely generous Girls Scouts in Junior  troop number 30763 received 40 boxes of free cookies for all of their sales and they decided to donate those to Danykahs project as well.  She was so excited that helping others through cookie sales also helped the veterans.
Danykah was able to secure a few hundred items to donate and some cash donations to help with the shipping.  Service involves looking outside of yourself and helping others and Danykah has definitely displayed this.
