‘Lookin’ Back’ to perform Bob Seger tribute August 2 at Courthouse Concert
‘Lookin’ Back’ will perform its Bob Seger tribute this Friday, August 2, in a Concerts at the Courthouse performance. The show is from 7 to 9 p.m. on the lawn of the Historic Howell Courthouse in Downtown Howell.
This performance is the latest in a free series of concerts presented by the Livingston Arts Council throughout the summer, featuring rock, folk and blues entertainment at an outdoor family (and pet)-friendly venue. Pack a blanket or chair, and bring a snack or eat at one of Howell’s many downtown restaurants before enjoying the evening’s entertainment!
This will be the band’s third appearance, but this time it will be as the most popular Bob Seger tribute in North America!  If you remember last year’s “Best Of” series, the band attracted record attendance and this year we expect just as many attendees, if not more.
August is Lookin’ Back’s 10th Anniversary month, and their August 2nd performance in Howell will be the bands' 161st performance.  The band’s first and most recent free-to-the-public show (July 11th in Monroe) attracted almost 5,800 Bob Seger fans. We suggest people get downtown ASAP before their Concerts at the Courthouse appearance to secure a great spot on the lawn and enjoy a program mixing most of Bob’s standards with several early classics that are certain to surprise all his lifetime fans.
Concerts at the Courthouse runs every Friday night from June 28th – August 23rd. In the event of inclement weather, concerts may be cancelled – listen to WHMI 93.5 for updates or visit the Livingston Arts Council Facebook page. No alcoholic beverages are permitted.

Danykah Muck is a Livingston County 4-H member and for her 10th birthday she decided to forego getting presents for herself but instead collect items for deployed veterans through Operation Gratitude. This was a hard decision to give up gifts at first but once she realized how many veterans would benefit from her donation she got very excited. After her friends were so very gracious and donated a lot of items for the cause Danykah decided to expand the project.
She wrote a letter to be placed in the county 4-H newsletter and presented at her 4-H clubs meeting to ask for donation from 4-H and to talk about the program Operation Gratitude that she was collecting for. The letter that Danykah shared with 4-H clubs is attached along with a photo of the items she collected.  In addition, there is a letter of appreciation she received from Operation Gratitude once the donation was receive also attached.
While Danykah was running this project she helped some of her fellow Girl Scout friends sell cookies even though she was not a member just to help out.  The extremely generous Girls Scouts in Junior  troop number 30763 received 40 boxes of free cookies for all of their sales and they decided to donate those to Danykahs project as well.  She was so excited that helping others through cookie sales also helped the veterans.
Danykah was able to secure a few hundred items to donate and some cash donations to help with the shipping.  Service involves looking outside of yourself and helping others and Danykah has definitely displayed this.

The Sinclairs Band to perform at Concerts at the Courthouse on July 19
The next performance at the Concerts at the Courthouse will be The Sinclairs Band on Friday, July 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. The band is making its debut at this area venue. The Concerts at held at the Historic Courthouse lawn in Downtown Howell and is presented by the Livingston Arts Council.
The Sinclairs began in 1997 as a garage band and were initially just friends who got together for the simple joy of making music. There were no intentions of becoming a working band. After playing a couple of backyard get-togethers it was clear the band was on to something. Under urging from friends, the band began to book gigs and find success on the local scene. Much has changed over the years. What began as friends playing 60’s songs for kicks grew into a band known as a local staple providing good-time performances and leaving audiences with a show they fondly remember.
The Sinclairs Band’s humble beginnings have blossomed into a well-known band performing at many area clubs, countless weddings, car shows, corporate events, and outdoor festivals. The band has shared the stage with such notable names as Foghat, Gary Puckett, Herman’s Hermits, Dennis DeYoung of Styx, The Grass Roots, The Georgia Satellites, Great White, The Spin Doctors, Patty Smyth & Scandal, Blue Oyster Cult, and Eddie Money.
The Sinclairs Band focuses on good time hits of the 70’s, 80’s, 90's and beyond. Aimed at the dance floor, the band plays a mix of classic party rock, pop, and funk by such artists as The Doobie Brothers, AC/DC, Bryan Adams, INXS, The J. Geils Band, Earth, Wind & Fire, Bon Jovi and Tom Petty to name a few.
Concerts at the Courthouse runs every Friday night from June 28th – August 23rd. In the event of inclement weather, concerts may be cancelled – listen to WHMI 93.5 for updates or visit the Livingston Arts Council Facebook page. No alcoholic beverages are permitted.

Concert at the Courthouse to feature Alan Turner & the Steel Horse Band
The next Concert at the Courthouse will feature Alan Turner & the Steel Horse Band. The performance takes place on Friday, July 12, from 7 to 9 p.m. on the lawn of the Historic Howell Courthouse. This perennially popular program,  now in its 21st season, is a free series of concerts presented by the Livingston Arts Council throughout the summer, featuring rock, folk and blues entertainment at an outdoor family (and pet)-friendly venue. Pack a blanket or chair, and bring a snack or eat at one of Howell’s many downtown restaurants before enjoying the evening’s entertainment!
This year’s series continues with southeastern Michigan’s Alan Turner and his Steel Horse Band. Not since Garth Brooks jumped off the stage and into people’s hearts has the country scene delivered such riveting entertainment! His connection with his fans makes him stand out, and his rugged good looks, rich baritone vocals and the way he delivers the song to his captivated audiences has set him above the rest.
Alan found his love of music at a very young age. By six years old, Alan’s mother, a Sunday school teacher taught him to read music and play piano. Alan’s father also a singer/songwriter, was constant inspiration until his death when Alan was just ten years old.
“Shortly before his death, my father had given me Kenny Roger’s album The Gambler,” Alan explains. “I think it was the combination of my father’s musical influence and that old vinyl record of Kenny’s that led to my love of country music.”
This love is visible in Alan’s music in the way he can emotionally deliver each song and the story it tells on stage. For Alan that love came full circle in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2010 when he and the band had the honor of meeting Kenny and being his direct opening act.
In the years that have followed he has broken onto radio and television everywhere with his well-written and crafted songs, Bull Riding Babe (2015), Preacher Man and Me (2016), Windows & Mirrors (2017) and Tennessee Twister (2019). All across the USA and into Canada, Alan and the band have been thrilling crowds with his distinctly high energy Renegade Country Music! With nonstop performance schedule of over 100 plus shows a year there is no sign of him slowing down! This is one cowboy ya don’t want to miss!
Concerts at the Courthouse runs every Friday night from June 28th – August 23rd. In the event of inclement weather, concerts may be cancelled – listen to WHMI 93.5 for updates or visit the Livingston Arts Council Facebook page. No alcoholic beverages are permitted.
