Robert J. Coll
Robert J. "Bob" Coll—a resident of Louisville, Kentucky who grew up in Fowlerville—lived a fulfilling life from his beginning in Howell, Michigan, September 1951, with his mother, Anna Mae Miller (deceased), father, Gordon Coll (deceased) and sister, Judith Estfan. He attended Fowlerville High School, Class of 1969, before packing up for Vietnam to serve his country at the age of 17. As a duster for the U.S. Army, he earned a multitude of honors and medals. He was the Quartermaster of the VFW and commander of the American Legion in Rockford, MI.
Bob was a storyteller; he had the ability to leave you hanging on to every word and dictation. An embodiment of the term entrepreneur, Bob often spoke of business ventures. After graduating from college in Lansing, he climbed the corporate ladder to success as an executive and multiple business owner. A passion for hot-rods and a mechanical inclination would lead him to a strong community of like-minded individuals and one too many projects. He loved to hunt among friends and rescued his beloved dog, Monty, out in the wilderness.
In his 69th year, he died, January 2020, after a tenacious battle with pancreatic cancer. He was blessed with Kimberly "Kim" Coll: his wife and loving caregiver until the time of his death. He raised two sons, Nicholas "Nic" Coll and Vincent "Vinnie" Coll alongside their mother, Karen Coll. He took special pride in his role of 'Grandpa Bob' to Aidan, Coley, Trevor, and Cassie.
Robert J. Coll's life is a living example of kind action. His strong values and vivacious personality allowed him to connect with people and inspired him to give generously to others. Bob will be forever remembered by his many true and loyal friends.
It is his wishes that donations be made to the VA hospital in lieu of flowers.
A ‘Celebration of Life’ is being held for Bob on Monday, January 27th, at Owen Funeral Home on Dixie Highway in Louisville, Kentucky. Visiting hours are from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. followed by a service at 1 p.m. From there, a military burial will take place at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff.
Willard Warren Dysinger
Willard Warren Dysinger, age 84, departed this life on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center in Kentucky. He was a longtime Fowlerville resident and graduated from Fowlerville High School
Willard was born on March 13, 1935 in Detroit, MI to the late Herbert Everett Dysinger and Vera May Currie Dysinger. Willard worked as a Press Operator for the Ford Motor Company for 37 years before retiring in 1991. After retiring, he moved to Somerset, Kentucky. He was a Veteran in the United States Army from 1957-1959 and was stationed in Germany. Willard was a member of First Baptist Church and was a former Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He loved his family, kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and his church family. He also loved his gang at Alton Blakely when he worked picking up cars for them.
He is survived by his wife: Virginia “Ginny” Gail Woods Dysinger, whom he married on March 7, 1958 in Detroit, MI; four children: Kimberly Dawn Dysinger of Oriental, NC; Jill Irene (and Gerry) Jenkins of Fowlerville, MI; Linda Kay LeBlanc of Knoxville, TN; and Kenneth Douglas II (and Monna) Dysinger of Somerset, KY; seven grandchildren: Jesse Currie of San Diego, CA; Chelsea LeBlanc of Knoxville, TN; Lance LeBlanc of Knoxville, TN; Megan (and David) Adkins of Calgary, Alberta; Caleb (and Kaila) Jenkins of Fowlerville, MI; Hallie Dysinger of Somerset, KY; and Cole Dysinger of Somerset, KY; two great-grandchildren, Keilah and Esther Adkins; one sister, Deanna (and Gary) Call of Canton, MI; and many nieces and nephews whom he was very close to.
Along with his parents, Herbert and Vera Dysinger, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Douglas Dysinger and three sisters, Jean McPherson, Irene Walsh, and Leone Thomas.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at First Baptist Church in Somerset, KY. A second visitation was being held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 10:00am until 11:00am at First Baptist Church. His funeral service followed at 11:00am at First Baptist Church with Dr. French Harmon officiating.
The burial will be on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 11:00am at Mill Springs National Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post# 38 Honor Guard.

Women United holding ‘Growing Great Kids’ event on Feb. 20
On Thursday, Feb. 20, both men and women are invited to join Women United in the mission of “Growing Great Kids”. Men are welcome, because our kids need you too!
This event will feature Trusted Messenger Training through the nationally-recognized program “Talking is Teaching”; Talk, Read, Sing. As a Trusted Messenger, you will have a better understanding of brain development on future learning, and the information and tools needed to help make a difference in literacy.
Women United of Livingston County believes there is a moral and economic imperative to better prepare our children to succeed in school, career, and in life!
Its first focus, to improve literacy in Livingston County, was made by initiating a partnership with Livingston Educational Service Agency and their "Talking is Teaching" county-wide campaign, to measurably improve 3rd grade reading over the next 5 years.

‘Quilts of Valor National’ to celebrate Sew Day on Feb. 1 in American Legion
Each year ‘Quilts of Valor National’ celebrates Sew Day. They get together to cut, sew, iron, fold, piece, quilt and bind Quilts of Valor. They will be hosting an event on Saturday, Feb. 1, at American Legion Post #141, 3265 W Grand River Ave, Howell, from 10am–2pm. Bring your sewing machine and supplies, cutting supplies, iron and board or just show up to help. Food can be ordered at the hall, and feel free to bring a snack. Livingston County Concert Band to play music of Great American Composers
The Livingston County Concert Band will present it's mid-winter concert, "Great American Composers", on Saturday, Feb. 29, at 7:00 p.m. at the Rod Bushey Performing Arts Center, Howell High School. This concert features selections from Leonard Bernstein and James Horner, as well as American Jazz and movie music.
Admission is $10/adults; $8/seniors (62+) and children and students are free. Refreshments will be served during intermission.

Crossroads UM Church kicked off winter series of Swiss steak dinners
Crossroads United Methodist Church is kicking off its 2020 winter series of Swiss steak dinners for the public this Saturday, Jan. 25. Doors open at 4 p.m. and remain open as long as supplies last. The church is at the corner of Haslett and Zimmer roads east of Haslett and north of Williamston.
The dinner menu includes Swiss steak with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes, vegetables, cole slaw, rolls, dessert and beverages. Cost is $9 for adults, with children 10 and under free. Take-outs are available.
