‘Wreaths Across America’ planned at Greenwood Cemetery Saturday, Dec. 18

The Fowlerville Fourth of July Committee is proud to announce that they are sponsoring the 3rd Annual ‘Wreaths Across America’ on Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Fowlerville.

The program will start at 12 noon, with the gates open at 11 a.m.. The noontime start will coincide with the ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery and similar events at over 2,500 other cemeteries across the nation. Each ceremony is as varied as the men and women it honors with speakers, moving sentiments, pageantry and often music. One thing every ceremony has in common is the placing of wreaths on grave sites to honor those who have served, many offering the ultimate sacrifice while serving this nation.

The approximate hour-long ceremony in Fowlerville will feature remarks from State Senator Lana Theis, State Rep. Bob Bezotte, State Rep. Ann Bollin, and Fowlerville Village President Carol Hill.

The ceremony will be highlighted by the laying of wreaths for all of the military service branches, first responders, MIA/POWs, Gold Star families, and new this year Service Dogs.

There is no charge for this event. Veterans, their family and friends and the general public are all welcome to attend.

Brandon Denby, chairman of the Fowlerville 4th of July committee, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies and may be reached at (517) 546-0270, or by email @ BDenby@LivGov.com with questions.

United Way’s 28th Annual “Filling Wishes” Booklets               now available

The holidays are fast approaching and most of our local agencies are hard at work helping families, serving meals or ensuring their consumers are safe and warm. They are so busy doing their incredible work that we try to help get the word out about their needs for the next year.

Livingston County United Way’s 28th Annual “Filling Wishes” Booklet compiles “wish lists” each year from area nonprofit organizations. These local nonprofits spend all year ensuring the people they serve have everything they need to be healthy, stable and supported. Now it is their turn to share their own needs so any year-end giving can help them prepare to serve the community in 2022! The booklet, online at

lcunitedway.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Wishbook-2021.pdf, lists practical products and services, such as office supplies, equipment or gift cards, to help local organizations provide strong community programming, while offsetting operating costs. In some cases, quality “gently” used items can be donated such as office equipment, furniture or supplies.

You will also see a consistent need for volunteers, including Board members, to help support the programming in the community and lead the work being done. Your time is a valuable gift and makes a huge difference each year. Lastly, year-end tax deductions receipts can be given for contributed items.
