Yoga Fitness Self-Defense - Mondays starting July 9th at 7pm
Adults. Join certified Mixed Martial Arts Instructor, John Noonan, as he leads you in a series of yoga and self-defense exercises that will help increase your flexibility and movement. Exercises are designed to be accessible to adults of all ages. Please remember to bring water to drink and your own towel or mat to practice on. Spaces are limited to 10 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. *There is a small cash-only fee for this class of $5. Drop-in class.

Teens 6th-12th grades. Enjoy a free music-themed movie with friends, popcorn, and a beverage. Detroit Music Oral Histories - Thursday, July 12th at 7pm
Adults. After three years of conducting oral histories with more than a dozen members of the music industry, Kim Schroeder of Wayne State University will share the insights of Detroit musicians as to how and why Detroit has produced so much musical talent over so many years. Interviews feature musicians from a myriad of genres, including R&B, jazz, pop rock, garage rock, and classical. Register in person to attend. All Ages. Join us on the lawn outside the old library building for an outdoor movie! The movie starts as soon as it’s dark enough to see the picture well on the screen. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, snacks, and bug spray. Come early to pick your spot on the lawn! *Weather permitting. Drop-in event. Children 12 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Teens 13 and older must have a signed Program Permission Form or be accompanied by an adult.

Webberville United Methodist Church to serve Chicken Dinner on July 21
The Webberville United Methodist Church is having its monthly chicken dinner on Saturday, July 21, with oven fried chicken, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, vegetables and biscuits. The meal will include coffee, lemonade, and dessert. The dinner will be served 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $9 per adult, $4 for children 12 and under; pre-schoolers eat free. Webberville United Methodist Church is located on the corner of Holt Road and M-52.
St. John's Lutheran Church offers summer programs for adults and youth
Summer is here and St. John's Lutheran Church is offering programs and worship for folks who are busy but would like to stay connected to worship during the week.
On Wednesday July 18, worship with Holy Communion will be offered at 7:00 p.m. It is casual, so come as you are. It will include music, scripture, a message and prayer for healing to those who would like to receive.
"This is an opportunity to stay connected with God, with community and one another, even if you are busy every single weekend of the summer," said Pastor Diane Greble. "Wednesday worship offers a window of peace in the midst of busy weeks. We welcome anyone who is seeking these things to join us."
In addition, St. John's is offering another Community Bible Study to which anyone in the local area is welcome to participate. This four-week session will be based on the work of Bill Hybels and his study, "Just Walk Across the Room." Following the example of Jesus, participants will develop their natural, relational approach to telling their own story of faith to others.
"We believe people still need to encounter one another and know one another. We would like to help people break down the barriers through encouragement and friendship," said Greble, adding that the program will run on Tuesdays, July 17, 24, 31 and August 7 at 6 p.m. and will include a light supper. Of course, summer would not be complete without Vacation Bible School (VBS)! St. John's is hosting five nights of fun, faith and friendship once again. Kids ages four through teen are invited to join us on the ‘Rolling River Rampage’, beginning Sunday July 8 through Thursday July 12. There is no cost and it includes a free family dinner each night. Each child needs to bring a white cotton t-shirt for the first night and they will tie-dye their shirts on Sunday evening.

Country music to be performed at Williamston Eagles Club on July 28
Kick up your heels to the country tunes of Potts Rd Band at the Williamston Eagles Club on Saturday, July 28th. Come early for dinner: grilled New York Strip or chicken breast, baked potato, green beans or ear of corn, salad and dessert—all for $12. Dinner is 5-8pm, or until we run out.
Doors open to the public at 3pm, Potts Rd takes the stage from 8pm to 12:30 am. Bring your friends and join us for a night of fun. We will also be holding a membership drive and signing people up. The Accidentals to perform at Concerts at the Courthouse on Friday, July 13
A variety of area musicians will take center stage each and every Friday night throughout the summer on the lawn of the Historic Howell Courthouse as Concerts at The Courthouse celebrates its 20thAnniversary. This perennially popular program is a free concert series presented by the Livingston Arts Council throughout the summer, featuring rock, folk and blues entertainment at the outdoor family (and pet)-friendly venue. Pack a blanket, lawn chair, and a few snacks, or come early and eat at one of Howell’s many downtown restaurants before enjoying the evening’s entertainment with family, friends and neighbors.
This year’s “Best Of” series continues with the return of The Accidentals after their spectacular show last summer. The group will perform on Friday, July 13, from 7-9 p.m. at the Courthouse Amphitheater in Downtown Howell.
Named among Yahoo Music’s “Top 10 Bands to Watch in 2017,” The Accidentals’ adventure began in their hometown of Traverse City, MI, when Larson, a sophomore cellist, and Buist, a junior violinist, were paired for a high school orchestra event. The gifted young musicians became fast friends and before long, bandmates. Having both grown up in musical families with professional pianists for fathers and vocalists for mothers, their shared influences bounced between classical, jazz, bluegrass, country, alt-rock, and the obscure.
Dubbing themselves after the musical notes that fall outside of a key signature, The Accidentals recorded and released a pair of independent albums in 2012 and 2013, the latter funded by a hugely successful Kickstarter. Their original songs revealed a band with wide-ranging influences but always true to their orchestral roots. National applause and attention followed, as did acclaimed collaborations with some fellow local artists and independent filmmakers. Other career highlights included scoring arrangements for a 75-piece orchestra to accompany them on their original songs as well as arranging pieces for an opera/dance production with Jennifer and Ryan Lott (Son Lux).
The past five years have seen The Accidentals perform over a thousand live shows, including headline dates, festival sets, and shared stages along such like-minded acts as Martin Sexton, Brandi Carlile, Andrew Bird, The Wailers, Joan Baez and others. 2015 saw the band embark on their first full-scale national tour, funded in part by an Indiego go ‘online garage sale”. That year’s SXSW debut saw them hailed by Billboard for “displaying a genre-hopping range of influences and some smart songwriting skills to go with their abundant musical chops.”
With their most recent album, ODYSSEY, The Accidentals have conjured a truly one of its kind sound and vision, booming with free-thinking musicality, wisdom, and an understanding that growth is a process, not something that happens overnight. The Accidentals are already moving forward on their amazing journey, rolling down the windows on an open road towards someplace that’s both true and transcendent.

Foster Care informational meeting being held on July 16
Livingston County Catholic Charities (LCCC) holds an informational meeting for persons interested in learning more about foster care on the 3rd Monday of each month, 5pm–7pm, LCCC, 2020 E. Grand River #101, Howell. The next meeting is on Monday, July 16. To RSVP call Amanda today to reserve your spot at 517-545-5944. LCCC is seeking to increase the number of available foster homes in Livingston County to serve the growing number of children entering foster care. Currently there are not enough local homes to accommodate abused and/or neglected children to keep them close to their home of origin in order to maintain stability in their lives.
Arc of Livingston Parent Support Group to meet on Monday, July 16
The Arc of Livingston Parent Support Group is a chance to get together with other parents of children or adults with disabilities to network, get and give support. Meetings are held on the third Monday of the month and will include presentations and/or discussions on topics of interest to parents. Meetings are held at The Well Church 2376 Genoa Business Park Drive in Brighton, 6:30pm-8pm. The next gathering is Monday, July 16.
Caregiver Support Group meeting on July 18 at Catholic Charities center
The Caregiver Support Group meets at Be Our Guest Adult Day Center (a program of Livingston County Catholic Charities), 2020 E. Grand River #103, Howell on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 4:30– 6:00pm. Join us to learn the latest techniques to care and support your loved one suffering with dementia and related diseases as well as tips on how to care for yourself and grow your support system. With prior notice, they also offer care for your loved one while you attend. Please call Suzi or Katie at 517-546-9910 for information or to notify staff your loved one will be in attendance. The next meeting is Wednesday, July 18.
