Edward & June Kellogg Family Foundation helped fund part of the construction cost and in appreciation for this assistance the building is being called the Kellogg Environmental Center while the overall facility will continue to be called Recycle Livingston.
At the time of the groundbreaking, which was held on April 10th, the total cost of the construction was tabbed at around $750,000. A grant obtained from the Michigan Dept. of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy covered $463,684.80 of the costs, while the Kellogg Foundtion was contributing $184,000. The remaining expense was covered by Recycle Livingston.
The donation by the Kellogg Foundation provided the necessary matching money that enabled the organization to obatin the state grant.
