 Walter Frederich Krause

(3-15-1943)

Webberville Michigan

Walter Frederick Krause was born March 15, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan. He died on May 17, 2023, in Webberville, Michigan.

Walter was the oldest of four siblings and graduated from Redford High School. He had many professions in his lifetime–sales, truck driver, carpenter, and building contractor. Carpentry was his favorite, and he made many beautiful woodworking pieces during his life. He also enjoyed telling and hearing a good joke, gardening, and visiting with people. He had a great smile.

He is survived by his partner of 16 years, Karen Cochran; one son, Kevin Krause; a sister, Danna; a granddaughter, Lillyan Davis; and several nieces, nephew, and friends.

A celebration of life service is planned for 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Northfork Farms & Outback, LLC, 3637Morrice Road, Webberville, Michigan.

The family is being served by Hermann Funeral Home in Fowlerville Michigan.

 Ronnie D. Errer

Fowlerville, MI

His Legacy… Ronnie D. Errer, age 76, passed away May 7, 2023. He was born on June 16, 1946, in Pigeon, Michigan to Wilbur Errer and Irene (Lucht) Errer. Ronnie married the love of his life, Terry Mulloy, on July 27, 2005. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man who loved his family and University of Michigan sports. He was a diehard U of M fan holding season tickets to Michigan football games for many years.

Ronnie was known and loved broadly, whether it was the UAW 735 at the General Motors Powertrain Plant in Ypsilanti where he worked as a welder, or softball teams he coached, or the bowling league he bowled with, or people he encountered along the meandering journey of life. He also shared many special memories hanging with friends at “The Knoll.”

His greatest joy was certainly spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He leaves a wonderful legacy in them from relationships grown through creating woodworking projects, watching the birds, or cheering them on from the stands during sports games, meets, wrestling matches, or dance recitals. With them he leaves a strong and lasting legacy. And when none of his own family were playing he’d find an honorary kid from the community to root for and made a day of it! He was also committed to keep in touch regularly with extended family. With the gift of gab, Ronnie loved people, and everyone loved him.

His Family… Ronnie will be missed by his wife Terry; his children, Gina (Matthew) Bolzman, Mike (Lisa) Errer, Shannon (Jim Goike) Mulloy, Phillip (Carolyn) Mulloy, Nichol (Curtis) Childs; siblings, Jean Gransden, Leon (Laurel) Errer, Raymond (Diann) Errer; grandchildren Lyndsey, Lara (Kyle), Alea, Ashleigh (Kyle), Derek (Abby), Donte, Donovan, Dominic, Delaney, Aidan, Iain, Emilia, Annabelle; great grandchildren Sophia, Ellis, Eleanor, Leo, Stella, Hunter, Cameron, Devin; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ken Errer; sister Donna Eisinger; brother-in-law, Ron Gransden; and grandson Logan Bolzman.

His Farewell… Ronnie’s family and friends gathered from 11AM to 12PM on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Howell Memorial Chapel in Howell, Michigan. His Community Farewell was held at 12PM on Tuesday, May 16 at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Howell Memorial Chapel. Those attending had been invited to wear their maize and blue or Michigan attire to honor Ronnie. Pastor Dan Quagliata served as Celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans or Gleaners Foodbank of Livingston County. Please leave a message of comfort for Ronnie’s family at 1-877-231-7900, or sign his guestbook at www.borekjennings.com.

 James Frederick Haller, Sr.

James Frederick Haller, Sr. 81, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2023 with his family by his side and surrounded by love.

He grew up in Lewiston and graduated from Atlanta High School where he met and married Shirley Kamen (17 years) and had four children: Janette (Fred) Howard, Jacqueline Haller, Pamela (Johon) Beach, and James Jr. (Julie) Haller where the family resided in Oakland County. Jim was employed at General Motors for 39 years.

Jim went on to marry Barbara Shafer-Burnie and would have celebrated 42 years of marriage on June 14th. Jim had three step-children: Debora Klickner, Karen Burnie, and Terry (Lynda) Burnie.

Jim and Barb resided in Webberville, MI and had a large church family at the First Baptist Church of Fowlerville.

Evelyn Sefton

Evelyn Rozelle (Kummeth) Sefton made her heavenly journey on May 16, 2023. She was born on November 4, 1936 in Britton, South Dakota to George and Sabina Kummeth. Growing up in Minnesota, she graduated from Owatonna High School in 1954. She then earned her nursing degree in 1958 from St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing in Mason City, Iowa.

Taking a chance on a blind date, Evelyn met and subsequently married the love of her life, Paul Sefton, on June 27, 1959. They moved to Fowlerville from Wabash, Indiana in 1970 with their brood of 7 children. Evelyn was a faithful friend, loving wife, and devoted mother, teaching her children The Fear of The Lord, integrity, to work hard, to put forth your best effort, and to love life. Her wisdom, humor, and wit were invaluable in gaining perspective even in the most challenging circumstances.

For 25 years Evelyn worked as a nursing supervisor at Howell's McPherson Hospital, bringing compassion and health care excellence to her patients as well as to the staff in her charge.

After retiring from the hospital, Evelyn continued to use her nursing license and skills working for Dr.s David and Robin Mika in Brighton until the age of 81.

She loved her children and grandchildren who all recognized her legendary skills at board games, cards, dice, trivia, bingo, and slot machines. She always had a story to tell, a song to sing, a poem to recite, or a quick-witted joke at the ready. She will be greatly missed by so many.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Frank, George, and Gene Kummeth, her sister Marge (Gordon) Besonen, her beloved husband Paul, as well as 2 of their sons, Michael and John Sefton.

Evelyn is survived by her sisters Irene (John) Wierzbinski and Marie (Len) Caesar, her sons Bruce Sefton and Thom Sefton, her daughters Susan (James) Mills, Kathleen (Michael) Tulgestke, and Barbara Sefton-Tabit, as well as 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved unconditionally.

The community farewell and celebration of life for Evelyn will take place on Monday, May 22, 2023 with a viewing from 4-7 p.m. at Herrmann Funeral Home in Fowlerville, with a rosary service beginning at 6:30p.m.

On Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 10 a.m. there will be another viewing opportunity followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Fowlerville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Agnes Catholic Church, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Herrmann Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at pjherrmannfuneralhome.com

Livingston County United Way taking sign-ups for ‘Day of Caring’

Livingston County United Way is excited to announce that the 21st Annual ‘Day of Caring’ will be held on Wednesday, August 9. Volunteer and work site registrations are now open and ready for people to sign up. Special Thank You to Griffith Realty who has signed up to be the Major Sponsor for the 2023 ‘Day of Caring’, which is the largest single-day community service event in the county.

In 2022, we were able to bring together 689 volunteers who accomplished a total of 58 projects. These included assisting senior citizens with home-related repairs and improvements, including 3 doors and a toilet, helping support project referrals from our local agencies and schools, collecting school supplies and packing 1044 school backpacks, as well as organizing local food and personal care drives that resulted in 20 boxes of donations.

The Livingston County United Way collects worksite proposals from local residents, seniors, schools, disabled residents and non-profit agencies. The work is often minor household repair projects, cleaning and yardwork that the homeowner is not able to do on their own.

Anyone can recommend a worksite and community members are encouraged to apply for a neighbor or friend who needs extra help. Deadline for worksite projects is June 2nd. All proposed worksites are reviewed for approval by the Livingston County United Way ‘Day of Caring’ Committee.

Volunteers are invited to register individually or as a group. They can designate preferences for location, type of project, special skills and specific shift times (9:00 a.m. – noon or 1:00-4:00 p.m. or a full day commitment). Deadline for volunteer registration is June 21.

Companies, clubs and organizations are invited and encouraged to participate together. What better way to showcase an organization’s volunteer spirit while making a difference, improving employee morale and enthusiasm through team building and connecting individuals to their community and coworkers.

If you are unable to participate in this wonderful community service event but still want to help, consider a company sponsorship, a personal donation. Consider holding a food drive or personal care drive in the weeks before the event. All sponsorships and donations will be used to buy supplies needed for Day of Caring worksite projects!

To register, get involved or learn more, visit lcunitedway.org/day-of-caring-2022/or call 810-494-3000.

Each year, we are impressed by these seniors who strive for academic (and athletic) excellence, and value leadership and living in service of others.

We rely on attendance at this event, in memoriam donations of those who have passed, and generous financial partners by local businesses and alumni business owners. If you’d like to advertise your business card in the 2023 banquet program, contact Meghan Swain at fowlervillehighschoolalumni@gmail.com or 517.672.1747.

If you are a Fowlerville High School graduate/attendee, you are part of the FHS Alumni Association and welcome to attend. Grab some classmates, catch up, have dinner/dessert, hear “toasts” to classes celebrating milestone graduation anniversaries, and create lasting memories! Questions?
