The Salvation Army of Livingston County responds to COVID-19 virus
The Salvation Army of Livingston County takes very seriously our call to "meet human needs". Throughout the past two weeks, the organization has implemented new programs, policies and procedures to ensure that community needs are taken care of all while ensuring the safety of staff and volunteers.
--The Salvation Army community corps center/social services building is closed to the public. All persons entering the building must have an appointment.
--We will continue all current Social Service assistance programs. The assistance will all be via telephone and email. We will not be assisting clients inside our office.
--Food pantry assistance has increased. The assistance will take place over the phone with pantry box pickups drive-up style. The family stays in the car and the food is delivered to the vehicle. Due to the size of our building at this time we are not able to offer client choice shopping, as we would not be able to comply by the CDC guidelines of social distancing.
--All church onsite activities have been temporarily canceled. However online support, activities and worship will be available.
The Salvation Army has been operating the Mobile Lunch Service Program via its canteen. The program is currently scheduled to run until April 10 at which time the program and its need will be reevaluated.
The Salvation Army canteen travels to a different location each weekday to provide meals to the now at home bound children. The canteen sets up shop from Noon-1pm providing sack lunches to anyone in Livingston County. Persons do not have to live in the community in which the canteen is parked. Participants are ask to send only one person from the household to obtain the lunches or if traveling by car, to leave children and other members in the car. Each family can take one lunch per household member and no ID is required. (please visit our website or see attached flier for locations)
