George W. Lee Civil War Round Table to meet this Tuesday, March 13
The George W. Lee Civil War Round Table will be meeting this Tuesday, March 13, at 7 p.m. The meeting is at the Livingston County EMS Headquarters Building (aka John E. LaBelle Public Safety Complex), 1911 N. Tooley Rd, Howell. This building is located on the east side of Livingston County Airport. Tooley Road is accessed off of M-59, about a quarter mile east of the intersection of M-59 & Grand River Ave.
The speaker for this month’s Round Table meeting is our own member, Rick Schmidt. Rick will talk on Class A small arms of the U.S. Navy during the Civil War. He has been interested in the Civil War since 1958, and has a large collection of items from the War He will bring in some of them for us to see then.
Rick is a 50-year member of the NSSA - the North South Skirmish Association. He has also been involved with Living History, Battery B of the 1st Michigan Light Artillery for 10 years. So, Rick has an excellent background in Civil War history and is going to share his knowledge with us.
