Robert ‘Bob’ Coon
Robert “Bob” Coon lost his battle with cancer September 28, 2016. He has gone to meet the Lord where there is no more pain. He was born to Marlie & Jessie (Fredrick) Coon in Pinckney on December 20, 1938. He graduated from Fowlerville High School in 1957. Upon graduation he entered the U.S. Army and served until 1959. While in the service he served in Germany as a radio mechanic with the 508th Military Police Battalion. He married Connie Maleitzke July 2, 1960.
Bob enjoyed attending the Fowlerville school activities that his children were involved in and then again when his grandchildren attended there. He also liked to fish and hunt. But one of his favorite past times was working with tractors. He and Connie spent many summers visiting tractor shows. He was employed by the telephone company from 1959 to 1994 first as a lineman and then as a switchman. He started out in the Howell office and then worked in many of the Lansing area offices.
Bob is survived by his wife, Connie and three children, Dan (Dana) Coon, Pam (Greg) Hindy and Mona Coon-Griffin. Also seven grandchildren: Mandy Griffin (Ryan) Starski, Brian Griffin Jr., Bob and Mike Hindy, and Adam, Rachel and Maddie Coon. And two great granddaughters: Selenia and Griffin Starski.
In addition he is survived by his sisters, Marguerite (Dick) Boyce, Marilyn Maine and Beverly Spencer. He was proceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers. Visitation was held on Friday September 30, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Herrmann Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Saturday 11 a.m. at United Brethren Church of Fowlerville. Burial followed at Benjamin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fowlerville Brethren Church or the Fowlerville Impact Center.
A big thank you to Jen Fargo and Tyneshia Carter of Great Lakes Caring Hospice for their compassionate care. Two of God’s angels.
