Cali Maifert-Smith
Cali Maifert-Smith was granted her wings on October 25, 2016 following a fight against leukemia and complications post transplant. She was surrounded by her family in her last moments. Cali touched the lives of many in her six years. She will be remembered by her smile, strength, determination and sassy that she never lost throughout her entire battle.
We were guaranteed a smile when she would see her baby sister Delilah. She loved her dearly. Unfortunately, not enough time spent with her because of Cali's very long hospital stay.
Cali just started to watch the Food Network channel. She said she was going to open a restaurant and serve hot dogs! She enjoyed the Minecraft game and conversing with people.
She loved the kids at school and referred to them as "my kids". Early on Cali loved her preschool teacher Ms. Betty, Ms. Connie, Ms. Kara, Ms Jordan, Ms. Brianna. She loved her teacher Mrs. Miller and her counselor Mr. Wedesky.
Cali made many friends at Mott Hospital. She worked her way into the hearts of the doctors, nurses, child life and many others, too numerous to mention. These special people provided her with love and care throughout this fight. For their care, we are eternally grateful.
Cali is survived by her parents Angela Smith and Bobby Maifert; sister Delilah; paternal grandparents Bob and Kerry Maifert; Aunt Aleisha Maifert; Great Grandmother Patricia Stephens of Fowlerville. She is also survived by her maternal godparents Randy and Laura Smith; Aunt Jamie Smith of Fowlerville, Great Great Aunt Laura Nowak and Cousin Karen of Riverview. There are so many more of the family, we will forever be grateful for your prayers.
Cali was predeceased by her Great Grandmother Rita Maifert-Soloman.
Visitation will be Monday, October 31, 2016 from 2-8 p.m. at Herrmann Funeral Home, 1005 Grand River, Fowlerville, MI 48836. COSTUMES WELCOME for Cali! She was looking forward to dressing up for Halloween!
