 Historical Corner

by the Livingston Centre Historical Society

The Livingston Center Historic Society will meet this Wednesday, June 25, at 11:00 a.m. inside the chapel (Green Church) at the Historic Village. Agenda items include finalizing details and Open hours for Fair Week, final report from the annual Gramma's Attic sale, planning for Fall Fest and updates on the Kirkland House repairs and future historic-themed activities at the Fowlerville Library. Anyone interested in historic preservation, and Livingston County's past is welcome to attend.

The Historic Society is sponsoring Railroad Night at the Fowlerville Library on Monday, June 23, 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. The society's own David Thompson will present information on railroads, complete with a model train layout. All are welcome. Refer to the library's website, as well as websites for other Livingston Counry libraries, for information on this and other upcoming programs.

Volunteers are needed for Fair Week to serve as tour guides at the Historic Village. They will escort guests to the various buildings where Society members will be serving as docents. So no experience is necessary. This is a great opportunity for teenagers looking for community service/leadership hours, for scouts, FFA, 4-H, youth groups, or school requirements. Volunteers are also needed to demonstrate traditional skills, time period-appropriate musical instruments, or offer performances. More information can be found on the Facebook page: Livingston Centre Historical Village.

Sponsors and vendors are still being sought for Fall Fest. Area individuals and community businesses are invited to serve as sponsors; please contact LCHV2023@gmail.com for assistance.
