Acoustic Café to feature ‘Diamonds  in the Rust’ this Friday, March 1
Acoustic Café will be featuring ‘Diamonds in the Rust’ this Friday, March 1. Acoustic Café is an annual music series held at the historic Howell Opera House that features outstanding performers from across the country. It is sponsored by the Livingston Arts Council.
Out of the heart of the Midwest, two veteran Michigan duos have joined forces in a new quartet/quintet: Diamonds in the Rust.
In what began simply as an idea to tour together, Annie & Rod Capps and Jan Krist & Jim Bizer (along with percussionist/composer Alan Finkbeiner) have formed a new band. It was inevitable, perhaps – creative musical friends find other creative musical friends and can’t resist creating music together.
Each already well-known for their performing prowess, the new group promises to be that much more.  Everyone sings, everyone plays multiple instruments, and the band boasts a trio of respected, award-winning songwriters.  Their repertoire also includes a few choice selections from the rich musical history of the places where they grew and learned their craft.
Perhaps best of all is the palpable joy and camaraderie that happens between good musicians who are also good friends.  ‘Diamonds in the Rust’ exists to share this with their audiences – the connection that happens when everyone is caught up in the music.
Admission for this performance is $10 per person and available for purchase at the door. The Acoustic Café series runs every Friday night from January 4th – March 1st. Doors will open at 7:00 pm and the show will begin at 7:30 pm.
