Phil Heinrich
(1940 – 2018)
Philip Lynn Heinrich passed away on May 23 surrounded by family and loved ones.  He will be missed.  Phil was born in Alma, MI on August 12, 1940 to the late John and Mazie Heinrich, and raised in Detroit.  He would be the first to admit he lived a blessed life.  He lived his middle school years in Edmore where he made life-long friends and enjoyed playing sports for his local school. Phil moved back to Detroit where he graduated from Cass Technical School in 1958.   He then attended Wayne State University where he met Carole, his wife of nearly 55 years, and was a member of TKE fraternity.  Jobs and family obligations brought Phil to New Orleans, Central Texas, and back to the Detroit area.  He was able to enjoy a long, rewarding career until his retirement from sales at North American Phillips in 2006.
Phil struggled with the effects of Parkinson’s Disease for the last 15 years, and although the disease weakened him physically, he maintained the positive outlook those of us who loved him came to appreciate.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother (Gary), and in-laws (Carl and Agnes Malinowski).  Phil is survived by his wife Carole; children Craig (Jennifer), Jeffrey (Candace), and Jill; siblings Mark (Donna), Kathryn (Mario), and Douglas (Gerianne); and grandchildren Ashlynn, Jackson, Cole, Therman, Ava, and Audrey.
The last 15 years of his life were a challenge for Phil as Parkinson’s is a tough illness to manage, but he was happy to be able to continue to visit with family and friends who came through the Detroit area. Phil believed that the burden he faced with Parkinson’s was far outweighed by the blessings received throughout his nearly 78 years.  He enjoyed life and loved to both play and talk sports.
Phil was also able to enjoy his six grandchildren and watch them grow.  The family would like to thank his care givers at Haven of Rest Adult Foster Care- the attention and love they have shown Phil for the last 3 years is greatly appreciated.
Memorial services are planned for Saturday, July 14, at First Baptist Church of Fowlerville at 11:00 am.  An appetizer luncheon will follow immediately after the service at the church.  There will also be an open house following the service and luncheon to share stories and memories of Phil.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you consider a donation to Shakin’ not Stirred, a non profit organization whose goal it is “to bring awareness to the public about Parkinson's disease and also positively impact the lives of those living with Parkinson's and their family members.”  Donations can be made and more information found
at www.shakinnstirred.com .  Arrangements by: Herrmann Funeral Home.  Please leave the family a condolence at pjherrmannfuneralhome.com
