Torch 180 receives significant $234K grant from Chem-Trend for planned project in Fowlerville
Torch 180, located on Mill Street, announced that it has received a significant grant from Chem-Trend's parent company, Freudenberg Group. This funding, it was noted, will help complete planned retail, independent living and training space at 102 E. Grand River Ave. in Fowlerville. The building has been vacant for a number of years.
The e² initiative at Freudenberg Group encourages employees to support nonprofit projects in education and environmental protection with financial funding and volunteerism. The grant, totaling approximately $234,000, will be distributed over two years.
“This is a major milestone in our retail expansion and building renovation,” said Torch 180 director Rhonda Callahan. “We will be able to offer even more adults with disadvantages the chance to gain real-world skills, build confidence, and pursue independence through vocational training and other programs.
“Meanwhile, our 360 for 360 Retail Capital Campaign continues to grow — donation by donation!” she said. “This project is especially meaningful because it allows us to develop retail training programs, helping students explore new pathways while supporting local micro-entrepreneurs. With your support, we can complete renovations, equip training spaces, and create a welcoming marketplace that empowers both students and the community.”
