School Jazz Bands to kick off new ‘Music at the Park’ summer series
First performance is this Thursday, May 3
The Fowlerville High School and Junior High School Jazz Bands will kick off the new ‘Music at the Park’ summer concert series with a performance this Thursday, May 3, at 7 p.m. at the Fowlerville Centennial Park (next to the Fire Hall). Those attending are urged to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
This summer concert series—with future performances scheduled for June 7, July 4, and August 2—is being sponsored by the Fowlerville Downtown Development Authority (DDA).
“Among the purposes of our organization is to promote and enhance our Downtown and we believe this summer concert series does both,” said Steve MacDermaid, chairman of the DDA. “The Centennial Park is a great venue for this type of entertainment. Families can bring their kids with the playground nearby. There’s convenient parking, but it’s also within walking distance for many residents. Plus, it’s near the downtown businesses and restaurants, giving concert-goers a chance to dine out, enjoy a refreshment or snack, or do some shopping before and after the performance.
“Other communities have put on this type of outdoor entertainment and had success, so the DDA felt this would be a good attraction to offer the community,” he added.
