40th Annual Howell Melon Run to be held on Friday,
August 18
    The 40th Annual Howell Melon Run is Friday, August 18. The race starts and finishes in downtown Howell. On-site registrations, post-race awards, and refreshments will all take place on State Street. Bring the whole family to enjoy all the special events including the Melon Roll, 1/4 Mile Tot Trot, Mascot Dash, One Mile Fun Run/Walk, 5K, and 10K. A security area will be provided for all runners during the race. The course is certified by USA Track & Field. Runners who register after August 10th are not guaranteed a T-Shirt. Fine Arts Show being held at Howell Opera House during Melon Festival
     The Livingston Arts Council invites you to the 13th Annual Fine Arts Show at the Howell Opera House, with all the artists present to discuss their work and answer questions. There will be painting, jewelry, digital prints, photography and more, with all the displayed art available for purchase. Come in, walk through, and find your new favorite piece of art! Friday, August 18th, 3pm–9pm, Saturday, August 19th, 10am–10pm, Sunday, August 20th, 10am–4pm. Free admission.
 
9th Annual Doc May Memorial Melon Ride is set for Saturday, Aug. 19
   The 9th Annual Doc May Memorial Melon Ride being held on Saturday, August 19, is a 15-mile ride through historic neighborhoods, the McPherson Park Bike Path, Crosstown Trail, Howell City Park and Lake View Cemetery. This ride has become a Howell Melon Festival Tradition and is our way of celebrating the life of Doctor Pat May. The ride ends back at the Livingston County Courthouse for the post-ride, Howell Melon and Ice Cream. All registered riders will receive a route map, a commemorative t-shirt, and bike drawing ticket. Classic Car Show being hosted by Howell Area Historical Society Aug. 19 
    The Howell Area Historical Society Melon Festival Classic Car Show will be held on Saturday, August 19th, from 10am – 4pm on Grand River in front of the court house. Dash plaques will be provided for the first 50 cars along with goody bags. Cash award will be presented to the top pick voted by People's Choice. Your registration fee will help maintain the Society's Historic 1886 Ann Arbor Railroad Depot and 1888 Grand Trunk Caboose. Both will be open Saturday and Sunday of Melon Festival.
