Elizabeth M. “Betty” Smith
    Elizabeth M. “Betty” Smith, 61, of Howell, died Tuesday morning, May 9th, at home, following a lengthy battle with both kidney disease and pancreatic cancer. 
    Betty was born August 10, 1955, in Detroit, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (McLean) Rushford. She married David H. Smith on April 25, 1987, at the First United Methodist Church in Farmington. 
    She served the Elevator Construction Union Local 36 for 25 years as its office manager. 
    Betty is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, David; loving children, William, Steven (Kathy) and David II (Kelsey); loving brother, Robert Rushford; and grandchildren, Sierra, Layton, Hunter and Rowan. Sadly, Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Anne McLean, in 2010. 
    The Smiths received guests at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home, downtown Farmington, on Thursday, May 11th, from 5-8 pm, and Friday, May 12th, from 2-8:30 pm. 
The rosary took place on Friday evening at 7:30 pm. 
    Betty’s funeral mass was celebrated Saturday, May 13th, 10:00 am (in state 9:30 am) at St. Gerald Catholic Church, Farmington. 
    A procession to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery for concluding prayers followed the mass.
