Fowlerville 4th of July celebration highlighted by parade & fireworks show
The annual Fowlerville 4th of July celebration will once again be highlighted by an evening parade and fireworks show. Other activities are also planned this Thursday.
The parade will line up on Veterans Drive, on the west side of the village, next to the VFW Hall, starting at 5:45 pm. The parade will then step off at 7 pm.
The parade route will proceed east along Grand River Ave., through town, and will disband at the St. Agnes Church parking lot. Grand River in the Downtown area will be closed off at 6 p.m.
The Grand Marshals for the parade this year are Matt and Wendy Martin and family. Matt owns the Cedar River Car Wash and Old Glory Auto Wash.
“We chose Matt Martin and his family as our 2019 Grand Marshal because the Martin family has been loyal supporters of the fireworks show and the Annual Chili Cook-Off fundraiser for many years,” the July 4th Committee said in a statement. “  The committee thought it was time to honor their unwavering support for the annual fireworks show.”
Marissa Carson will be performing the National Anthem once the Color Guard reaches the stand.
The fireworks show—another highlight of the event— will begin at 10 pm.
Prime viewing locations for the fireworks will be at Community Park and the Fowlerville Fairgrounds. Kari Holmes and the Modern Day Drifters will be performing at Community Park from 8 to 10 pm. There will also be food and novelty vendors at both the park and the fairgrounds at this time.
The fireworks show—which costs around $11,000—is funded from donations by the public as well as the fundraising efforts of the 4th of July Committee. Additional money is also needed to rent portable restrooms and trash receptacles and to pay for other expenses including insurance. Without these donations that are collected on July 4th by volunteers and committee members, there would not be a show. The committee members request that you donate in cash or check. They do not have the capability to accept credit cards.
Volunteers will be at the entrances of the park and fairgrounds prior to the show and circulating along the parade route earlier in the evening, seeking contributions for next year’s display.
