Williamston Summer Concerts Series observing 15th year

The Williamston Summer Concerts Series is observing its 15th year. The first concert was this past Thursday (May 22) with the Williamston High School Jazz Band, with the next performance by ‘The Pocket’ set for June 12th. The band plays Classic 70s & 80s song.

Concerts are on Thursdays at 7pm in McCormick park, Williamston and presented by the Williamston Area Beautification Fund (WABF) non-profit. WABF began raising funds for a bandshell in McCormick Park in 2003. The Bandshell was completed and given to the City of Williamston in 2008. The WABF has continued to raise funds to provide summer concerts every Thursday the entire summer every since.

This summer’s schedule offers many of the annual favorites such as the Lansing Concert Big Band and Chelsea House Orchestra. Last year hits and returning for an encore concert include the Oxymorons and Tony Thompson & Friends.

New acts include The Pocket, Cold Leather Seats and the spectacular rock Tribute Show Itchycoo Park during Jubilee.

The summer will conclude August 21 with the 18-piece The Shades of Blue Jazz Ensemble - United States Air Force from USAF, St. Louis MO.

Concerts are FREE thanks to generous sponsors and patrons. The park is also in the "Downtown Social District" meaning one can order a "to go" alcoholic drink from any of four downtown restaurants and take it to the concert!
